NATIONAL PALACE MUSEUM, TAIPEI

Built and established in 1965, The National Palace Museum (known as 故宮 in Mandarin) is a world class museum, and houses the world's largest and finest collection of Chinese art, This vast collection covers treasures in painting, calligraphy, statuary, bronzes, lacquerware, ceramics, jade and religious objects, covering a time period of over 5000 years.

The museum not only serves the purpose of verifying the legitimacy of Chinese history, but is also a treasure to the art and cultural histories of mankind. One of its most famous treasures is the Jade Cabbage 翠玉白菜 which was a wedding gift to Imperial Consort Jin Fei, a present for her wedding to Emperor Guangxu and sees people queue for hours just to take a glimpse.,

In total, there are almost 700,000 pieces, which are rotated every three months - this means it would take more than twelve years to see everything the museum has to offer! Are you up to the challenge?
